About Autumn Escape

Immerse yourself in a luxury 4 star resort in the heart of the North Island. There isn’t much that beats the beauty and ambience of the Wairakei Resort… that is, unless you add a weekend full of paper crafting and shopping! It's all about fun, laughter and sheer indulgence!

This three day weekend provides something for everyone; from simply kicking back cropping the hours away while chatting with your friends to having a busy schedule enjoying amazing classes hosted by equally AMAZING tutors or somewhere inbetween that suits your schedule and budget. We strive to have a weekend that caters for everyone.

The weekend looks like this:

  • From the start you create your way through as many hours as you choose?!
  • The crop room opens at 9am on Friday, allowing you time to settle in before enjoying morning tea, then seriously getting into that creative zone!
  • Imagine If our on-site shop, brought to you by Jo Johnson and family of Morrinsville, opens at 11am on Friday and trades through to Sunday close.
  • Classes commence at approx 1pm Friday and are scheduled throughout the rest of the weekend. Classes have a duration of 2.5 to 3 hours.
  • Saturday the crop room opens at 8.30am for those that enjpy an early start...
  • Sunday morning weopen at 9.00am and the creativity concludes at 2pm.

Want to stay longer?

Many of our lovely group of participants enjoy making their way to Taupo on Thursday, via shopping hotspots of the North Island and ultimately arriving in plenty of time to check-in, meet up with friends, relax, have a pre-dinner drink and enjoy a nice meal together, then hit the hay so that they can rise at a reasonable time, enjoy a leisurely breakfast together and be ready to get into the crop room as the doors open at 9am.

Others have been known to stay on at the hotel Sunday arvo' enjoying more cropping time together or taking in a spa treatment, sharing a meal with friends and kicking back. Monday is then about returning home at a leisurely pace...

If either of these options, or both, sounds like you? Please let us know via your registration and we will take care of the extra nights bookings for you.

Please note: We make the bookings for you AND collect payment for the extra nights, so as to avoid unnecessary change of room and any confusion at check-out.

An extra nights accommodation including breakfast is $208.00 per TWIN SHARE room with two person occupancy ($104 per person). Prices adjust accordingly for Single Room guests.

I want a room on my own?

Should you wish to have a room to yourself we can arrange that too! (Now that's LUXURY!!!)

To have a single room costs $160 on top of your AE package for Friday and Saturday nights.

For Thursday and Sunday nights the room rate is $186.00 per night for a Single Occupancy Room.

Want to share TRIPLE?

The ONLY option for sleeping three adults in a room at Wairakei is to take one of their Family Villas. These are located at the Northern end of the property. The room contains a King Size bed in a bedroom and then a Single Bed and a Divan in the Lounge. So you really have three different levels of bed quality in one room. There is nothing we can do about this!!!

Please advise on the registration form at time of making your booking if this is the type of accommodation that you would like?

Classes

Classes are optional and charged separately. Take one, take a few, or take them all - it's up to you? Classes are released traditionally around February, however, I am going to try for an earlier release date for 2019. Watch this space as they say...

We strive for Autumn Escape to have a great reputation...

With the many events available to choose from these days we appreciate those of you that choose to return year upon year and continue to support us. As detailed in an Open Letter in 2018 on our Facebook Groupl, it has got increasingly difficult to continue running the event under the model it was run and we are making a few changes for the 2019 event in the hopes that this helps the coffers and sees the event continue into the next decade. To do this we are taking a few cost saving measures, most noticeably will be the Candy Bar being dropped, not quite so much "themed" decor etc.But we do believe that none of these changes will detract from the event that it is because it is YOU the participant that MAKES this event!

So, why not join us for Autumn Escape 2019?
